Sports-études at Garneau
Elite Baseball Training with Sports-études Garneau and the Bytown Dodgers
Students in grades 7 to 12 at L’École secondaire catholique Garneau can incorporate elite baseball training into regular school activities by enrolling in Sports-études. The baseball component of Sports-études is being run by Sébastien Boucher (Directeur des programmes sportifs in partnership with the Bytown Dodgers. Boucher (Dodgers Director of Programs, Coach and Player development) has been coach of multiple teams with the Bytown Dodgers over the last 2 years, and has been a trainer for the AAA teams that compete in the Elite Baseball League of Ontario. Boucher also brings extensive experience gained running the successful Sports-études baseball program in Quebec.
The Sports-études baseball program at L’École secondaire catholique Garneau takes advantage of the new dome at Garneau, while also using the gymnasium and training room. In the fall and spring, weather-permitting, training will also take place outdoors.
Sports-études activities runs in the afternoon on regular school days from Monday to Friday (1 pm to 3 pm). Students benefit from specialized training sessions for batting, pitching, catching and fielding, with emphasis on situational exercises. Students also participate in various workshops (sports psychology, diet, physical conditioning, etc.). Overall, this program will provide dedicated student-athletes with a wholistic and comprehensive baseball training experience that will set them up for success on and off the field.
